Cohiba Designed a New Band for Their Cuban!

There’s a new label for the Cohiba brand in Cuba. It’s been designed to try and hinder many of the fakes you might find floating around out there.

Notice the hologram strip at the top and bottom of the band? In those strips, it should read Cuba Cohiba with an Indian head in between. Also, the Indiimagean head is a hologram. Inside of the Indian head is another head which you can see when you rotate the cigar.

The Cohiba name is in all caps and embossed in gold just like the old label. You can literally feel the name on the label this time around, though. The white dots are slightly different, but the same yellow color on the band has been used.

The new band is being used for the Cohiba Classica line of traditional Cohiba sizes:

  • Esplendido
  • Robusto
  • Lancero
  • Corona Especiales
  • Panetela
  • Exquisite
  • PirĂ¡mides Extra

In addition, the Cohiba 1492 — referred to as the Siglo Series — from the Cohiba Siglo I to the Cohiba Siglo VI will also use the new bands.

Personally, I find the new band to be gorgeous and I feel that it complements the cigar beautifully. What are your thoughts on the change? Do you think it will help everyone better discern the fakes?
