Featuring an open-ear design that rests just outside the ear canal, with liquid silicone hooks to keep them firmly in place, FreSound Inspiration Open Earbuds are accessible, pro-grade and expertly engineered.
If you read my review of the VIAIM OpenNote earbuds, you already know I’m not a fan of traditional earbuds and I love the stay-put design that the OpenNote features. Well, the FreSound Inspiration Open Earbuds from Ugee, follow pretty much the same design, with an open-ear style and hooks that go over the back of your ears. They also rest just on the outside of your ear canal for comfortability, without sacrificing audio quality. But they don’t include the AI features if you’re not into that sort of thing. Well, kind of. They do feature AI-powered noise cancellation during calls. More importantly, they’re built with pro-grade acoustic engineering from a Harman vet — the former Senior Acoustic Director, Li Shengbo.
At the core of the FreSound Inspiration are 12mm biological diaphragm drivers, which offer a custom frequency response curve. What does that mean? They deliver a sonic profile that balances directional clarity and spatial openness, in other words, offering you exceptional audio quality without blocking out your surroundings. And that’s achieved through a non-sealing, open-ear fit.
Liquid silicone fully wraps the buds and hooks, making them soft, cushy, and comfortable to wear, even over long periods. Moreover, they have IPX5 water-resistance ratings, are relatively lightweight at 8.7 grams per bud, and provide 30 hours of battery life total — 8 hours with the buds alone and 22 more hours with the wireless charging case. You haven’t even heard the best part yet. Wait until you learn the price.
What makes the FreSound Inspiration Open Earbuds so accessible?
The most pertinent accessibility point of the FreSound Inspiration Open Earbuds is the price. MSRP is $70, but they’re available much cheaper on sale, and it looks like that’s going to persist. They’re already much more affordable and accessible than comparable options. What else do they offer, for that price, though?
- A flexible silicone ear hook, and open-ear design
- 0.8mm ultra-flexible Nitinol memory alloy wire for the hooks
- Lightweight 8.7 grams
- A custom-tuned frequency response curve
- The 12mm high-amplitude, high-sensitivity BioCore drivers
- Fiber bio-diaphragm design for exceptional audio reproduction
- Directional acoustics technology with AcoustiFlow balancer
- AI call noise cancellation with intelligent removal algorithms
- Bluetooth 5.3
- IPX5 water-resistance rating
- Gesture controls onboard
- 8 hours of battery life per charge, plus 22 hours with wireless charging case (30 total)
- They include the wireless charging case and USB-C cable
At this point, if you’re anything like me, you’re wondering what the ideal situation is for wearing these. Realistically, anytime you want. The best part is the hook keeps them comfortably snug on your ears, so even when you’re active you don’t have to worry about them falling out. Plus, the long battery life and wireless charging case makes them perfect for all-day use, especially when you’re away from civilization and charging ports.
You could wear them while working, studying, relaxing, commuting, running, cycling, or doing some creative work, wherever the muse takes you. As mentioned, you can also use them to receive calls with AI noise cancellation for background noise. If you’re on a noisy bus, in the street, or open office, you can still hear whoever is on the other side, and they can hear you clearly as well.
