What a name, right? The Cuisinart 1 Pint Wonder makes a delicious pint of homemade ice cream in under a half hour — after you refrigerate the ingredients long enough. If you like frozen, tasty treats, you might want to see this piece of fine gadgetry.
Why is this compact ice cream maker’s size a selling point?
Compact and portable is the new way to play, don’t you know? I mean, beyond that, sure, it saves countertop space and keeps your kitchen clutter-free. Yes, it’s an excellent option for small living, whether you’re in a cabin, van, RV, apartment, condo or something comparable. But it’s also convenient, easy to cleanup, and just as easy to stow away. That’s because the cord wraps around the motor unit, keeping it out of the way and fending off cord tangles. The stackable lid also keeps the counter or cabinets clean. Plus, when you’re ready to bust out some frozen ice cream, you can take it out of the cupboard, set it up in seconds, and go.
It has a detachable motor unit, lid, and paddle, while the lid and paddle are also dishwasher-safe. That might not seem that exciting in words, but when it’s time to clean up after yourself, you’ll be really happy it exists.
Something you do have to keep in mind is that this is a compact ice cream maker. It’s not designed to make a metric ton of ice cream. If you want a machine that’s more substantial, Cuisinart has those too. Check out the Cool Creations 2 ($190), which makes a quart, or the Pure Indulgence 2 ($130).
