Astrohaus offers a wide variety of Freewrite devices that offer serene, distraction-free writing tools. Like the Freewrite Traveler with a built-in e-ink display and full QWERTY keyboard for typing up drafts and content anywhere.
I consider myself to be a writer, first and foremost, but I’m sure that’s fairly obvious. While I do prefer writing on modern devices with clicky, tactile feedback thanks to mechanical keyboards, there’s no denying that computers, phones, and the modern digital world are littered with weapons of mass distraction. Even when the muse strikes and you’re feeling invincible creatively, distractions bombard you constantly. That’s why some of the greatest writers out there work to reduce distractions. Freewrite aims to help with that.
Offering several distraction-free writing devices, like the Traveler, Hemingwrite, Smart Typewriters, and Wordrunner Keyboard, the goal is to remove everything that would tear you away from your creative prose. However, this is achieved without compromising on the writing experience. It’s a merger of useful hardware and software in most cases, but not all, with dedicated drafting tools to help you become prolific.
Take the Traveler, for example. It’s a lightweight, portable device with an e-ink display. It incorporates a full-size QWERTY keyboard so you can put together or pad out your draft anywhere.
What makes Freewrite so desirable for writers?
I’ve known a few writers in my time, and I know myself. We’re prone to distractions. That’s not a cliche, and it’s not a false claim. Something about creative genius makes you aloof and… SQUIRREL. It doesn’t matter how talented you are at arranging words. Distractions can hit you and when they do, they hit you hard. What’s the modern equivalent to punch buggies? Teslas? Cybertrucks?
Freewrite devices eliminate that. You get a single-function gadget meant specifically for writing content of any kind. They have no internet access. No apps or distractions. They only offer third-party document syncing to back up your drafts. They’re visually comfortable, at least the models with displays are. Moreover, you have access to Freewrite software tools like Sprinter or Postbox.
Don’t want a display? No problem, opt for the Wordrunner Keyboard or the Alpha Classic with a very minimal display. Want portability? Go with the Traveler or the Hemingwrite. Want something more traditional? Check out the Smart Typewriter models. There’s something for everyone here, and they all range in price, too.
Tactile keyboards and writing surfaces. Excellent battery life. Comfortable, less-distracting displays. Optimal portability. Creative writing support, including timers and tools to boost your sessions. I bet something like this would give me the motivation to finish my novel. I may even be able to finish before George R. R. Martin. That series is never getting finished, dude. Or maybe in another ten years.
