Palmstreet is an online and app-based marketplace where you can shop for live plants, reptiles, and much more. Live, interactive shows allow you to see the products and make sure they’re real. All sellers are said to be vetted and trustworthy.

Don’t you get tired of gifting the same old things year after year? I sure do. As much as I love tech, gadgets, and all things electronic, sometimes there’s a need to break outside of the norm. That’s kind of the idea behind Palmstreet. It’s a live shopping marketplace, available on the web and mobile, that allows you to buy, and gift, some fairly unorthodox things. For example, you can gift fashion and beauty collectibles, crystals, reptiles (yes live reptiles) and, best of all, live plants. If you know someone who isn’t too good at nursing a plant from a seed this gives you the opportunity to still gift them a plant. Alive, potted and mature.

For plants, you’ll find everything from succulents and cacti, your standard low-maintenance variety, to more exotic tropicals and rare variegated greeneries. But here’s why Palmstreet is a standout. It’s not just another Facebook Marketplace clone. It’s community focused, with users like you helping to build trust in sellers, buyers and the platform as a whole. More importantly, there’s a vetting process for all sellers. All sellers go through an application process, though it’s not clear what’s required beyond that, the goal is to keep scammers off the platform.

What else can you buy on Palmstreet?

Browse the marketplace and you’ll find live plants, collectibles, handmade jewelry, live reptiles, insects, crystals, and more. While you can buy from static listings, like a regular marketplace, Palmstreet also offers something called live and interactive shopping. Basically, you get to see the seller in real-time, live and on camera holding either the plants or reptiles they’re offering or even the products. That way, you know the seller is real, the product is real and you can verify yourself.

Want to experience it for yourself? You can do it right in your browser (I already checked it out). Click on any live show in the list and watch for a few minutes.

When it comes to the live plants, shipping them safely, especially in cold weather is going to be very important. Palmstreet sellers always use insulated box liners, heating packs, and ship with Spagma moss to prevent pests during the trip. In addition, fragile leaves and stems are always gently wrapped with bubble wrap or packing paper, whichever is healthier and works best.

Live animals are shipped using safe methods, as well. While I can’t speak to how the animals are treated, most sellers mention “ethical breeding.”
