The Lymow One is a unique robotic lawn mower equipped with power for tackling various types of terrain, including an upgraded front mulching deck. What does this mean? Smarter, more capable features to help you trim your lawn just the way you like it, while you relax on the sidelines.

Robotic lawn mowers creep me out a little. Why? Well, they’re not like a robotic vacuum, which is inherently harmless. Sure, those could run over and traipse dog shit all over the house unsupervised, but they’re not going to chop off anyone’s feet. A lawn mower, on the other hand, has the potential to be quite dangerous. But another concern I have with robotic lawn mowers is the adaptability. If your grass is on flat ground, relatively even growing and not a hassle, then these little devices should work just fine. That’s not what I have in my yard, though. My grass is mostly weeds, unwieldy and an absolute pain to cut even with a powerful weed whacker and reliable full size mower. Seriously, it looks like Jurassic Park out there after two weeks, especially during the summer.

So, when I learned about the Lymow One, a powerful robotic mower that’s designed to be a trailblazer, with unparalleled terrain adaptability, I perked right up. This might be my chance to safely and reliably cut my grass, while sipping on an ice cold beverage and smoking a stogie sitting down. Before you ask, no my yard isn’t big enough to justify a riding mower.

Lymow One: Robotic lawn mower features front and center

Brace yourself, I’m going to use a ton of big words here. I promise these are from the manufacturer, not me.

For starters, the Lymow One has super advanced navigation mechanics and technologies built-in. Smart LySee navigation uses Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) satellite positioning with Visual Simultaneous Localization and mapping technology (VSLAM) to provide exceptional autonomous maneuverability. Together, this system means you don’t need to use boundary wires or markers. It also supports customizable mapping of over 80 zones across up to 15 acres — you can also designate restricted areas. Eliminating some of the proprietary language and buzzwords it simply tells us the Lymow One is incredibly smart. It can also navigate on its own using a mashup of visualization technologies.

Semantic environment perception, thanks to a stereo camera with image-based semantic recognition, plus depth-sensing capabilities and customizable obstacle avoidance means this mower is able to identify and react to obstacles like nothing else in its class. Hedgehogs, toys, sprinklers, pet waste, it avoids them all. Users can also customize the mower’s response to items, like pinecones, for example. You can choose to have the mower avoid them or chop them up with the LyCut Mowing Deck. Customization is all done through the Lymow app.

Above all, it can cover a much larger area than comparable mowers. Specifically, it will trim up to five times more surface area than “other mowers,” which equates to 1.73 acres per day (0.23 acres/hour, 0.57 acres/charge). The battery offers up to 90 minutes of runtime per charge and the mower will return to its dock to charge between sessions.

What else makes this robotic lawn mower so advanced?

A powerful brushless motor with 1200 peak watts drives the professional-grade mulching blades, which spin at 6,000 RPMs. Again, translating that for everyone, including myself, it’s capable of tackling tough grass, dense patches, and in both wet or dry conditions. Honestly, that last bit has me really excited. In Florida, it rains daily and that always puts a damper in my mowing or yardwork plans.

Lymow One can also trim debris like pinecones, fruit, and small branches. Already, you can see the blades are more capable than similar robotic lawn mowers. Best of all, this thing won’t get trapped or stuck on smaller debris. What would otherwise be a troubling obstacle, it will easily bypass.

Moreover, the front deck of the Lymow One is adjustable. That’s so you can set a cutting height between 1.2 and 4 inches, offering tons of flexibility. The wheels are also designed to accommodate uneven terrain, still achieving even cuts. You get efficient mulching, with an even spread of debris thanks to the high-speed fan discharge — clippings are finely chopped and evenly distributed — powerful mowing on nearly any terrain, and precision cutting capabilities. It’s IPX6 water-resistant, as well. That’s a lot to love and a lot of impressive features.

Lymow One was originally funded on Kickstarter and successfully raised over $6 million. It’s now available for pre-sale from May 28, but there’s no word on an exact release date yet.
