The XREAL AR glasses connect to a wide variety of devices, including mobile, Steam Deck, game consoles, and Nintendo Switch 2 to give you an immersive experience, well, pretty much anywhere. You get a huge private screen, excellent audio, and much more. Think of it as a localized cinematic experience for gaming, watching movies, even just listening to music. I haven’t used the XREAL specifically, but I have used AR glasses — and continue to use them — and the experience is incredible.
Of course, the buy-in can be somewhat high, especially when you consider the glasses are more auxilary. They’re meant to connect to other devices rather than do things natively. But with the current XREAL trade-in program, you can save up to $475 off with a trade-in.
Here’s the coolest bit, though. You can trade in any glasses. Sure, they can be AR glasses from other brands, but also they can be regular glasses. The main requirement is that they have a functional lens or lenses. AR glasses, VR glasses, sunglasses, grandpa’s reading specs, those blue-light blockers you bought on a whim. If they look like glasses, XREAL will take them as a trade.
What do you have to do to get XREAL credit for the trade-in?
First, buy the XREAL One or One Pro AR glasses from the brand’s official storefront. Complete the valuation form for your trade-in. Ship the glasses to XREAL using the provided instructions. XREAL representatives will review the trade-in, value the glasses and finalize the amounts. As a result, a digital MasterCard loaded with the final trade-in value will be provided to you. That’s it. Profit!
Yes, you have to buy a pair of eligible XREAL AR glasses first, but you’re essentially getting a discount with your trade-in. You can use that MasterCard later to buy games, movies, groceries, gas, whatever.
Like I said, I love my AR glasses. I connect them via USB-C to my Steam Deck but still get to play games in the living room and spend time with the family. I know to some of the older generations that will be complaint-worthy, but spending time together is spending time together even if they’re watching TV and I’m playing games. Get over it.
