Viture Luma Pro XR glasses are beautifully-designed AR glasses, as a new competitor in the market, but they’re also available at Best Buy in-store and online. You can go try them out in person.
There are a few brands of AR glasses that are pretty good, and it’s nice to see some competition in the space. That’s better for everyone because it means more options, better prices (usually), and some cool features. Well, the Viture Luma Pro XR glasses, or Luma Series, are some new contenders, available at Best Buy, that introduce competitive functions. Founded by Google and Apple veterans Viture aims to show everyone the future. For starters, you can use them to project a personal 152-inch 1200p ultra-sharp display using the internal OLEDs. Speaking of those OLEDs, they’re cinematic-grade SONY micro-OLED displays so you already know they’re going to be bright, vibrant, and beautiful. Audio by Harman also offers an immersive surround audio experience while wearing them.
In addition, most AR glasses like this are only available for purchase online. Sure, that’s super convenient when you know you want a pair. But if you want to try them first you can’t really do that. Viture’s glasses are the first available for offline retail. You can walk into your local Best Buy and give them a try. For tech like this, that makes a huge difference.
How do the Viture Luma Pro XR glasses work?
The glasses plug into your devices via USB-C, including your Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Steam Deck, smartphone, PlayStation, Xbox, Windows PC, Android tablet, iPhone or iOS devices and more. The screen is then populated with the content from the device, like plugging in an external monitor. The difference is the experience is localized and only you see it with the glasses on. You get a 152-inch display across both eyepieces with immersive audio, 1200p resolution and super-crisp 4K-like visuals with sharp edges, excellent contrast and 1000 nits of brightness. That last number means they’re pretty bright.
Viture also offers a number of accessories to go with the glasses: Don’t worry, everything you need to use them is included in the box, like a USB-C to USB-C cable that’s already in there. The accessories are just extra if you want them:
- Pro Mobile Dock — $159
- Pro Neckband — $299 and $399
- Viture 8BitDo Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller — $79
- USB-C XR Charging Adapter — $79
Why own AR glasses like this?
As for why you would want a pair of these, imagine your wife, girlfriend, or kids are hogging the living room TV. You can visit with them, without being locked in an office or bedroom, while still playing some games, on your Steam Deck or Switch 2, for example. Or maybe watch a movie, streaming from your phone, tablet or a laptop? You get localized video and audio so only you can hear and see what’s going on.
In fact, that’s exactly how I use mine. My son loves to play the PS4, which is connected to the living room TV. I don’t like the same games he does, most of the time, so I play on my Steam Deck using my AR glasses. You could also use them on a plane, in the office, in a hotel, or even out in public as long as you’re sitting down and remain aware of your surroundings — like at a park.
Anyway, if they sound interesting and you live near a Best Buy, go check them out.
