Nitro Deck 2 is a pro-quality controller from CRKD and the second iteration of the brand’s Switch controller design. This time it works with Switch 2, and Switch, and adds a ton of modularity and functionality.

The Nitro Deck 2 is a continuation of the original model, offering compatibility with the new Nintendo Switch 2, but it’s also backwards compatible with the original Switch. What is it? Well, it’s basically a pro-grade controller and deck meant to attach to the Switch. The original had Hall Effect joysticks but this one swaps those out for proprietary CaptiSticks, which CRKD says are immune to magnetic interference and rely on a no-contact design so stick drift will never be a problem.

Nitro Deck 2 also features a retractable locking dial, to secure to the console, has ergonomic grips built-in, can pair via Bluetooth or low-latency USB-C, and doubles as a pro-style standalone controller, both when the Switch is docked and with other systems. A built-in rechargeable battery keeps it powered up, extra remappable buttons — four back and extra L2 and R2 — give you more control in your games. Meanwhile, it has an integrated display stand to prop up your console, the stick tops and D-pad are swappable, and you can adjust vibration feedback. Holy shit Batman, that’s a bunch.

What else can the CRKD Nitro Deck 2 work with?

Okay, since the Nitro Deck 2 is $100, even though it is cheaper than most official controllers, you wouldn’t really buy this if you don’t own a Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. But if you do own one, it also works with PC, mobile (Android and iOS), smart TVs, and Bluetooth or USB-supported devices. So, you can basically use the controller cross-platform after you’ve gained some muscle memory, which is always a plus.

No, the cross-platform support may not be the primary reason for grabbing one of these, but it’s hard to say “no” to that long list of Switch-specific features like the built-in stand. Not to mention, getting rid of stick drift forever is a huge plus. Pre-orders have already started with the first shipments expected to go out in Spring 2026.

Who is it for?

Anyone that wants a pro-grade controller for their Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 that adds a ton of modularity and extra features. Game on.
