Designed to be portable, sleek and convenient, the SOLDR soldering workstation is essentially a small case with modules, versatility and an open source design. Why? So you can set it up in seconds and get soldering anywhere with a clean workspace and reliable gear.
Tools include a pen holder, fan and light, flexible arms, soldering iron with braid spool, flux syringe, accessory holder, wire stripper, and flush cutter. They all basically snap magnetically to the top grid, with the bottom foldout tray serving as your workspace. Altogether the SOLDR case is lightweight, sleek and portable so you can bring it anywhere, tossing it into a backpack when you’re on the move. It also unfolds and sets up in seconds so you can get working right away. Plus, it’s fully open source so if you have a 3D printer, or get one, you can print new tools and modules.
What’s so great about a modular and open source soldering workstation?
That’s a valid question. A soldering workstation isn’t just about the tools it’s also about the clean space where you can work. You might set up in a garage, on a shelf, or somewhere outdoors, for example, which may not be the most pristine space for working with or repairing small electronics. Sure, you could argue such a task shouldn’t be done just anywhere, but sometimes, you have to make it work. SOLDR gives you an easy-setup and quick use station for those places. Imagine fixing your family or friends gadgets when you go to visit. Except you can do it all from the comfort of your own, trusty workshop?
The beauty of SOLDR, however, is that while you can use it anywhere, it can also be utilized as a static station. Say you don’t want to pack it up and stow it in a bag you can leave it on an existing workbench or tabletop. Or, you could fold it all up when you’re done using it to recover the space for whatever other projects you have going on.
Also, even though it comes with everything you need to get started, the modular and open-source nature means you can print or make additional tools or simply buy or order them from third-parties online. Of course, the SOLDR team sells modules and add-ons too if you prefer to go the official route. You can order additional gear like precision knives, smartphone microscopes, multimeters, soldering tips, and much more. All the necessary printing blueprints or files are available on SOLDR’s website, too.
