The homerunPET CS106 is a self-cleaning litter box that also has a refill reservoir to keep fresh litter dropping in after cleanings. It can support up to 20 days of hands-free cleaning for homes with one cat — up to seven days for homes with three cats
There are a lot of self-cleaning litter boxes on the market these days. Take your pick. But while they offer smart automations and a bunch of bells and whistles, when you trim the fat, they really don’t offer much long-term support. Most smart litter boxes only stay automated for a short period. If you try to push things out further, well, the litter starts to stink. Homerunpet has a self-cleaning litter box, the CS106, that not only empties messes but also refills the litter with fresh stuff for up to 20 days. The large 106 liter dome fits cats up to 25 pounds, even Maine Coons. Meanwhile, the 12 liter waste bin holds enough soiled litter for up to 20 days. If you have three cats, it lasts for up to seven days.
The 4.5 liter auto refill bin holds fresh litter that drops down inside after a cleaning. It’s ultra-quiet, large enough to fit just about any cat, and comes with a bunch of excellent features. You get mobile app controls, too. The litter bed capacity alone where the cats do their business holds up to 8 liters at a time. If you’re worried about all the mechanical parts hurting your cat there are safety functions built-in, too. An anti-pinch safety bumper and smart sensors keep your kitty safe at all times. The biggest downside I can see here is the price, but given what’s included it may be worth it for a lot of cat owners.
What else is there to know about the CS106 self-cleaning litter box?
CS106 comes with separate small pore and large pore filters so it’s compatible with many common and popular forms of litter. Some listed as fully compatible include tofu types, bentonite, clay, and mixed litters. It looks like what needs to be replaced over time is the fresh gel deodorizer, the litter bags, and the waste bags. Ten of each bag type is included in the box so you can use it right away along with the deodorizer. Other than that it doesn’t look like you need regular refills of anything else — you’ll need litter, obviously.
As far as I can tell, there’s no subscription needed for the app to access features, including pet tracking. You can read all about the app and what features it offers at homerunPET’s site. If you want a quick overview, you get real-time alerts, multi-cat tracking, remote controls, health monitoring, and a night mode, all included. The CS106 pairs over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
The initial price might be a little steep, or seems so. However, when you consider there are no subscriptions to worry about and the app is free, with all features, that’s less bothersome. You’ll have a tough time finding a comparable option with everything that’s included here. The next big question is the data collection and how it’s handled. You’ll have to do some digging for yourself to see how that shakes out.
