The wearIQ smart audio glasses have wireless speakers built-in to play music or take calls, but they also protect your eyes from UV or blue light (you choose), while reducing glare. With up to 10 hours of playback and IPX4 water-resistance, what’s not to love?
A hat, sunglasses, earbuds, these are all things I cram onto my head while I’m outside doing yardwork. It’s not just a lot to lug around, but also it’s a lot to deal with when you want to lighten the load and take something off. And if your earbuds fall out, good luck getting everything back in order. But what if you could smarten things up and combine a couple of those devices? More specifically, what if you could slap some wireless speakers into the glasses and free up space, and your hands? That’s exactly what the wearIQ smart audio glasses achieve. All you need is a compatible phone and the wearIQ glasses. It brings new meaning to packing for the beach.
Let’s get this out of the way right now. These aren’t Ray-Bans or designer glasses. They’re not super stylish, or expensive, and they’re not meant to be. Don’t take that to mean they look bad, because they don’t. I have two pairs, and they look and feel great. And as far as traditional smart glasses go, there are no displays and no high-tech hardware bits tucked away inside.
They come as either 100% UV-protectant glasses — with UVA and UVB protection — offering reduced glare and reflections, and enhanced visual clarity, or clear lenses with blue light protection. The clear lenses offer the same specs, including UV400 protection, they’re just clear rather than tinted. You can choose which version you want. More importantly, they happen to have wireless speakers and Bluetooth built-in.
What else can the wearIQ smart audio glasses do?
The integrated speakers allow you to listen to music through them, take remote phone calls, and even speak thanks to an integrated microphone. They connect to your Android or iOS devices via Bluetooth 5.0 with a 50-foot range. Moreover, you can issue voice commands through Siri or Google Assistant on compatible devices.
The battery will deliver 10 hours of playtime on a single charge, or up to 200 hours in standby. And they charge via USB-C with the connection hidden neatly inside the frame. Touch controls allow you to adjust various settings or activate voice mode.
A lightweight design won’t bog down your head or ears. Anti-slip nose pads keep them firmly in place in front of your eyes. The blue light version is ideal for wearing indoors while watching movies, playing games, and more. Finally, they come with a clear plastic, protective case to stow the glasses when you’re not wearing them.
Because this has really become a long list of the features and specifications, you’re probably wondering, why wear these? Fair question. The sunglasses with UV protection? At the beach where it’s sunny or bright, or poolside, you can pop them on, shield your eyes and listen to some tunes. While you’re walking outdoors, shopping, or doing virtually any similar activity, you can use them to take incoming calls hands-free. Imagine waiting in line at the coffee shop and talking to your bestie via the glasses with your phone still in your pocket or bag?
Spending most of the day in front of a computer screen, tablet or phone with blue light? Spring for the clear, blue light protectant version and keep your eyes happy while you browse. Those also play music and take calls, so you can use them the same way, just indoors rather than out. Oh, but don’t worry, the clear lenses offer UV protection, too — rated at UV 400.
