The Hohem iSteady MT3 Series, both standard and Pro models, are pro-grade camera stabilization tools, using a combination of a gimbal-based setup and built-in AI tracking. They’re compatible universally with different size cameras — up to three pounds for MT3 standard and up to five pounds with MT3 Pro.

If you watch any of the videos I’ve recorded for Techigar or The BS Lounge, you’ll notice they’re not stabilized at all like a professional videographer would achieve. Of course, I have never claimed to offer that kind of visual clarity. But with something like Hohem’s latest iSteady MT3 Series devices I could absolutely make that happen. Spanning two models, MT3 Standard and MT3 Pro, they are pro-grade camera stabilizers with a built-in gimbal and AI tracking. The standard model offers automated tracking for humans, while the Pro model handles humans, pets, vehicles, and any other subjects you want to focus on. Most of all, the entire system is designed to be easy to use for beginners to expert photographers and videographers. It’s easy to mount your camera, balance the shot, switch to vertical configurations, and much more.

Standard works with cameras up to three pounds. Meanwhile Pro works with cameras up to five pounds (5.5 to be precise). They’re universally compatible, which means they should work fine with my Canon, but also all brands of cameras. Moreover, they come with a built in battery for long-days of shooting. Standard offers up to 17 hours of continuous use on a single charge versus Pro which offers up to 20 hours. Pro, being more expensive, comes with a few extras beyond that, as well.

Why would you want pro-grade camera stabilization?

Ideally, you mount your camera to the MT3 system and it keeps the shot even, stable, and focused on whatever you want to shoot. Rather than a shaky, stuttery recording, you get perfectly balanced shots that look like a professional captured them. That’s the idea and it helps improve pretty much anything you would record. They’re great if you’re shooting scenery, vehicles, products, friends, family, action events, sports, the list could go on forever, but basically these gimbal stabilizers will give you the perfect shot every time.

The AI tracking ensures your subject remains in frame. Although, the Standard version is designed to focus on humans most of all. The Pro model also comes with a detachable remote and since it can hold heavier and larger cameras that’s the one you want to go with if you have a hefty setup. The weight of the camera is mostly going to be dependent on not just the camera itself but also any sizable lenses you have installed. And if you’re shooting professional content in any capacity you’re going to have a decent lens on there, anyway.

As far as camera gimbals go, they’re relatively affordable and that’s before you consider the built-in AI tech. Most cheap, no-name gimbals and camera stabilizers cost about $200 and up. For what you get here, even being a tad more expensive, it seems well worth the buy-in.

Who is it for?

Photographers, videographers, content creators, filmmakers, video podcasters, and anyone that works with a camera.
