The Kapo K2 Pro from Ikape is small enough to fit in a backpack or daybag, but powerful enough to brew multiple double espressos anywhere. It has an internal battery, everything you need to brew — minus the coffee grounds — and even has Bluetooth with app controls.

If you love coffee — and a lot of people do — sometimes, you just need to take a break, brew, and enjoy. But that’s not exactly possible everywhere, at least not without the right equipment. Ikape’s Kapo K2 Pro could very well be that equipment, if you’re looking for a smart, portable espresso machine that enables you to brew, well, virtually anywhere. It boasts 20 bar pressure, which is the force used to extract espresso from finely ground coffee beans. Although, 9 bars is really the ideal spot — and this can certainly achieve that. Plus, with the 58mm portafilter it helps you brew professional-quality espresso, just supply your own coffee grounds.

Now, you don’t necessarily need smart app controls, but this thing has it. Thanks to Bluetooth wireless connectivity and the HappyGo Cera app, you can control and configure everything about the brewing process, remotely, from a mobile device. You can change the water temperature, pre-infusion times, pressure, and more. It’s a level of precision and control usually reserved for much larger, professional or commercial machines.

What else can the Kapo K2 portable espresso maker do?

There is an optional stand that you can use to prop up the Kapo K2 Pro at home if you want to brew in a traditional setting. Otherwise, it comes with everything you need to brew on the go, minus the coffee grounds. It weighs 820 grams and is about the size of your average thermos-style cup. It fits easily into a backpack or daybag.

The 13,500mAh battery offers enough power to brew about eight cups of coffee on a single charge, if the water is cold or room temperature and about 50ml each time. Or, that’s enough for about 400 cups of coffee if the water is already hot. It charges via USB-C, so you could plug it into a power bank or power station if you’re off-grid.

Meanwhile, the included 58mm bottomless basket works almost universally with existing coffee accessories, including tampers, espresso distributors, dosing funnels, and paper filters. You can even replace the basket with different options to match your preferred brewing style. If you want a better one for different bean types, variable grind degrees, larger coffee quantities and so forth, you can simply swap it out. As-is, about 18 grams of finely ground coffee beans will brew a double shot espresso. The K2 model (not the Pro) has a smaller 51mm head, versus the 58mm in the K2 Pro. Everything else is identical.

Who is it for?

Coffee lovers of mature age who want a good, pro-grade espresso anywhere, anytime. Seriously, you can make your drinks wherever.
