I’m a tech guy. Obviously, right? I run a tech site called Techigar, I have a history of writing and working with tech sites and it’s a lot of what I cover. I have plenty of gadgets, gizmos, and things to tinker with — and honestly, I don’t need more at this point. But one thing I’m always running out of, and can always use more of, is storage space. No, I’m not talking about shelf space in my office, cabinets or other areas to stow gear. I’m talking about digital storage space for data and information. Hard drives. Physical media. That kind of thing.

But even though storage technology has advanced considerably over the last decade — shrinking down into smaller, more compact sizes but with larger capacities — it can still be pretty expensive. I’m not a rich guy. I don’t even have a traditional salary or income anymore. Go figure. But even when I did, I understood the value of budgeting. I can’t just go buy new hard drives or storage media right when I need it. I have to find the right time, which makes sense for my income and my budget. No, I don’t think I’m special, I know that applies to all of us. So, the point I’m trying to make is right now with the current Prime Day deals it’s an excellent time to stock up. Since it’s something I need quite often, and I’m probably not alone, I figured it might be a good idea to share what I’ve found.

In short, here are some juicy Prime Day storage deals I’ve come across while deal hunting.

PNY RP60 Rugged Portable Solid-State Drive

With its rugged design — it’s in the name, people — this tough little drive can protect your data from water, dust, and accidental drops. Why you’d be subjecting your hard drive to that kind of abuse, I’ll never know, but it’s always a plus to have. Essentially, this thing is excellent for travel, but it’s also a fantastic companion for everyday use. Moving data from one system to another, backing up your most important files, or whatever you need to do. With the Prime Day storage deals, these are pretty damn affordable, too. They also support high-speed transfers, USB-C connections, and have proprietary image data protection software.

Portable External Hard Drives

Whether connecting to a game console, like the PS5 or Xbox, or moving data between PCs, laptops, and other devices, portable hard drives are an excellent option. For starters, they often come in much larger capacities so you can fit more, but also they come in portable housing, sometimes with extra protections to keep your data safe and sound.

  • SanDisk Extreme 2TB portable solid-state drive (SSD) — $120, was $210
  • Seagate Game Drive for Xbox 2TB external hard drive — $76, was $90
  • Seagate Game Drive for PS5 5TB external hard drive — $120, was $150
  • WD_BLACK P10 Game Drive 6TB portable external drive — $161, was $190
  • WD My Passport 6TB portable external hard drive — $152, was $185

SD Cards

Cameras, game consoles, like Steam Deck or Nintendo Switch, phones, tablets, they all use physical media in small formats, namely SD or MicroSD cards. That’s what these are and the prices are right, in my opinion.

  • PNY EliteX PRO 90 UHS-II SDXC 256GB Card — $138, was $220
  • PNY EliteX Class 10 UHS V30 SDXC 128GB Card 2-pack — $19, was $26
  • SanDisk Extreme MicroSDXC UHS-I 256GB Card — $24, was $35 | Great for Steam Deck or Switch
  • SanDisk Extreme MicroSDXC UHS-I 2TB Card — $166, was $200 | Great for Steam Deck or Switch

USB Flash Drives

USB drives are probably one of the best, most portable ways to move data around. I wouldn’t necessarily use them as a data backup solution, except for when you’re in a pinch, but you could also do that. These PNY Attaché drives support up to 130MB/s read speeds, with fast transfers that are up to 10 times faster than standard USB 2.0. They’re durable, lightweight, and compatible with most USB 3.2 devices.

  • PNY 32GB Attaché X USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive 5-pack — $16, was $20
  • PNY 64GB Attaché X USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive 5-pack — $18, was $22
  • PNY 128GB Attaché X USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive 5-pack — $19, was $30
  • SanDisk Extreme PRO 1TB USB 3.2 solid-state flash drive — $90, was $145
  • Samsung 128GB FIT Plus 3.1 USB flash drive — $15, was $23 | I have several of these and love these little guys.
  • Samsung 256GB FIT Plus 3.1 USB flash drive — $23, was $35
  • Samsung 512GB FIT Plus 3.1 USB flash drive — $60, was $80

If I come across any other Prime Day storage deals worth sharing I’ll add them here!
