The ELO Sentinel XR gaming glasses are a new pair of wearable AR glasses that put a 180-inch screen in your pocket. Two Sony OLED displays, built-in stereo sound and wide compatibility mean you can get a private, personalized and cinematic experience anywhere you want.
There are two Sony OLED displays inside the glasses, one for each eye. They support 1080P full HD resolutions at 120Hz with a 52-degree wide field-of-view, 1ms latency, and an adaptive fit. Comparatively, the screens are 22 times larger than the new Nintendo Switch 2’s screen. That massive 180 inches of screen space is unmatched and once you put these on, it’s immediately apparent. They connect mostly via USB-C, with devices like Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Android, iPad and so on. They can also connect via remote or cloud using PS Remote Play and Xbox Cloud Gaming. If you want to use them with the Nintendo Switch or the Switch 2, they’ll work, but you need to be docked.
Still, it’s plug-and-play. You plug them in, the screens come on, and away you go.
What’s the big deal with Sentinel XR gaming glasses?
Using electrochromic lenses with 99.7% light blocking and a brightness of 5,000 nits for the displays, these gaming glasses block out your surrounding environment and put you in a fully immersive virtual space. It’s not like virtual reality glasses, however. If you’ve never used anything like these before, you still remain aware of your surroundings. Even so, they’re best used when kicking back, relaxing and fully immersed. So, on the couch, while seated at your desk, relaxing in bed — activities like that.
You can use them to watch movies and shows, play games, or even interact with your devices in new ways. Imagine working in a fully virtual desktop on a super large 180-inch screen. Imagine the productivity there?
Built-in side fins block out side glare and distracting events in your room. They also feature adjustable elements, like the nose bridge, lenses and side arms, so you can find your perfect fit. Moreover, integrated myopia adjustment with a diopter correction from 0 to -5.0D allows anyone with mild-to-moderate myopia to not only use the glasses but also fine tune the experience and focus.
Additional features include smart heat controls with eight layers of protection, for better performance, and built-in stereo sound so you don’t need to wear headphones.
The ELO Sentinel XR gaming glasses are currently available to pre-order on Kickstarter. However, backers successfully funded the campaign, massively exceeding the $10,000 initial goal as of this writing — it’s over $130,000 right now.
