ChopValue repurposes old chopsticks into some pretty cool stuff like coasters, shelving, furniture, wall decor, and beyond. That means less waste in the landfill, and that’s better for everyone.

It will always be fascinating to me when teams or individuals repurpose old materials, items or devices and make some really cool, ingenious stuff. Part of the reason for that is, as capitalism encourages us to do, we are always consuming and creating more waste. If they can repurpose that waste functionally somehow, it’s good for everyone. That’s precisely what ChopValue does with — wait for it — old wooden chopsticks. The brand calls them “high-performance circular economy designs,” but really, they’re various types of decor or usable fixtures. Think desks, wall decor, stands, cutting boards, and so on.

Sure, there’s the hexagonal ChopValue wall decor set, which looks fantastic as-is. But there are also some unique items available, too. Notables include a rolling file cabinet, adorned with recycled chopstick wood, a gaming desk, coasters, shelving, even a workstation footrest. The sustainable footrest can be placed virtually anywhere you have room while sitting. It improves circulation in your legs and feet by taking pressure off your thighs. It also promotes better posture as you’re resting your feet upon its propped-up surface. I mean, for anyone who isn’t into a footrest, you have to admit it’s cool to see chopsticks, of all things, repurposed in this way.

What exactly does ChopValue make with recycled chopsticks?

As mentioned, the variety here is pretty wild. It’s best to take a look for yourself when you get the chance. You’ll find everything from wall shelves, decorative items, and desks, or other tabletop surfaces, to coasters, tablet stands, and beyond. I don’t think every single item has been made from repurposed chopsticks, obviously, there are some questionables in there. For example, butcher block oil, an office deskpad, and a full-on executive computer chair. However, they’re still made with sustainable materials.

Either way, it’s a really cool idea, and I’d love to fill my office space with some of these items, if only for the aesthetics alone. But the fact that they’re sustainable and made from recycled materials is even better — that’s less garbage going to landfills and sullying our planet.

Who is it for?

There’s no set audience, but if you can use unique shelves, fixtures, decor, and functional items, you might take a look.
